Alors que Jean, maire très conservateur d'une petite ville du Nord, est en campagne pour sa réélection, Edith, sa femme depuis quarante ans, lui annonce une nouvelle qu’elle ne peut plus taire… Au plus profond de son être, elle est - et a toujours été - un homme.
